The Odessa High School basketball team has been on a roll this year, boasting a 9-2 record and winning nine straight games. Junior guard Tori Richardson has been critical to the team’s success this season and has been making a name for herself in the state and out.
Richardson is the leading scorer on the team through 11 games, averaging 26.5 points per game.
As of January 16th, the junior guard is ranked #74 nationally in points per game and is the leader in the state of Delaware in scoring.
The Ducks guard has had no problem finding the bucket so far this season, recording double digits in all 11 games.
She has scored 20 or more points in four games this season, including four 30-point performances.
Richardson was finding the basket with ease in the December 12th game versus Glasgow, where she scored a season-high 40 points. The junior in the number three jersey made two shots from the three-point line and drained all ten shots from the free throw line in the game.
After four 30-point-plus performances and the 40-point blast, Richardson was named Delaware Basketball Explosion’s player of the month.
Given her scoring prowess, it’s no surprise Richardson is the leader in the state of Delaware in field goals made with 53 as of January 16th.
But scoring is not the only skill the Odessa guard has in her arsenal, as she leads the team in steals with 3.5 per game.
Richardson also knows how to get her teammates involved in the game, as she leads the team in assists with 1.5 per game.
The Ducks look to continue their strong play in their next ten games, and with Richardson surging, there is no way to think that they can’t continue to build up more wins.
