The Goldey-Beacom College women’s basketball team earned its third win of the season on Saturday with a 65-48 victory over the Post University Eagles.
Senior guard Rory Ciszkowski and Sophomore forward Lydia Betz led the team in scoring in the win, with 15 points. Cizkowski also recorded a double-double in the game.
Sophomore guard Marasia Dyes also scored in double-digits in the win by scoring 13 points.
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included second-chance points (8-4), fast-break points (8-0), rebounds (41-19), assists (17-15), and blocks (2-0).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 44.2% (23-52) and Post shooting 41.7% % (25-60). GBC bested the Eagles at the three-point line as the team shot37.5% % (12-32) and Post 26.5%%(9-34). Lightning was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 77.8%(7-9), and the Eagles shot 75.0%% (6-8).

The Lightning struck fast in this matchup by jumping out to an 8-2 edge with 4:04 remaining in the opening period. Marasia Dyes and senior guard Karlee Lemon each nailed a three-pointer during this time.
GBC scored four more points in the quarter to take a 12-8 advantage into the second.
The Lightning leads by seven at the end of the first half.
Goldey-Beacom started another quarter off strong as they outscored Post 10-4 to extend their lead to 22-12 with 4:01 left on the clock. Marasia Dyes and Rory Ciszkowski led the charge, scoring all ten points during that stretch.
Almost two minutes later, Dyes sank a three-pointer to give GBC a 25-14 edge.
The Eagles outscored the Lightning 5-1 for the rest of the first half to slice the deficit to seven points (26-19).
GBC holds a 12-point lead at the end of the third quarter.
Post continued their late first-half run into the early minutes of the second by outscoring Goldey 8-2 to pull the lead to one point (28-27) with 7:10 remaining in the third.
The Lightning started to find their shots as the team went on a 22-11 run for the rest of the quarter to take a 50-38 advantage into the fourth. Lydia Betz had the hot touch during this time, scoring eight of the 22 points. She made back-to-back three-pointers during this time.
Goldey-Beacom takes home a 65-48 win!!
It was the Rory Ciszkowski and Senior forward Gaia Zimbardo show in the fourth quarter as they scored ten of GBC’s 15 points to seal a 65-48 win over the Eagles.
The last bucket for Goldey was a half-court three-pointer from Karlee Lemon, who sank it with 50 seconds left.
