The Wilmington University men’s basketball team earned its seventh win of the season on Tuesday with a 79-64 win over the Chestnut Hill College Griffins.
Junior guard Akeem Taylor led the team in scoring in the win with 19 points.
Four other Wilmington players who scored in double digits were Sophomore forward Tre Hawkins (10), Sophomore guard Denim Perkins (13), Junior guard Jaiden Guy(16), and Sophomore guard Jaylin Horsey (10).
WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, including bench points (24-10), fast break points (13-0), points in the paint (42-22), second chance points (8-7), points off of turnovers (20-13), rebounds (33-31), steals (9-4), blocks (3-1).
Wilmington University also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 57.7%% (30-52) and Chestnut Hill 38.3%(23-60). The Wildcats were also the better team at the three-point line in this game, as the team shot 35.7% %(5-14), and the Griffins shot 27.6% (8-29).

Chestnut Hill started this game with a pep in their step by jumping out to a 20-8 edge with 12:09 remaining in the opening period.
WilmU fought back by outscoring the Griffins 25-6 to grab a 33-26 advantage with 3:21 left in the first half. Akeem Taylor, junior forward Zavion Bianchini Jr., and senior guard Justin Perez led the charge, scoring 17 of the 25 points.
The Griffins struck back by outscoring the Wildcats 9-4 for the rest of the half to head into halftime trailing by two points (37-35).
The Wildcats take home a 79-64 win!
Fast forward to the 5:08 minute mark in the second half, where Jaylin Horsey nailed a three-pointer to extend the Cats’ edge to ten points (64-54).
Wilmington outscored Chestnut Hill 15-10 for the rest of the game to seal a 79-64 victory.
