The Wilmington University softball team earned a split versus the Felician University Golden Falcons on Tuesday, with a 4-2 loss in the first game. The Cats also picked up a 9-3 victory in the second match.

Wilmington University holds a four-run lead at the end of the fourth inning.
The Wildcats lit up the board first in this game with freshman infielder Gracie Mabrey slapping a two-run single to center field to give her team a 2-0 edge in the opening inning.
In the bottom of the inning, Felician cut the lead to one (2-1) when a walk pushed a run home.
WilmU’s lead expanded to 5-1 in the fourth inning, when the team scored three runs on three hits.
Senior outfielder Eve Serrato pushed home a run in the fourth when she reached base on a fielder’s choice.
On the next play, Freshman third baseman Haley Grygo would score on a wild pitch.
Senior catcher Bella Barnes capped off the scoring by hitting an RBI single down the left-field line.
The Wildcats take home a 9-3 win!
In the fifth inning, Wilmington’s lead grew to 8-1 when the team scored three runs on three hits and one error.
Haley Grygo pushed home the first run in the inning with a sacrifice fly.
On the next play, Eve Serrato hit an RBI single to center field, but another runner scored due to an error that pushed the Cats’ edge to 8-1.
Senior outfielder Tristyn Stewart gave her team a 9-1 lead in the seventh when she scored on an error from the second baseman.
The Golden Falcons would score two runs off a double in the bottom of the inning, but WilmU would still take home a 9-3 win.
Pitching Recap:
Graduate student pitcher Delani Sheehan earned the win by giving up three hits, one run, four walks, and striking out four in five innings.
