Goldey-Beacom earns a sweep over Lincoln (PA)

The Goldey-Beacom College softball team earned a sweep on Tuesday versus the Lincoln University (PA) Lions. Goldey-Beacom won the first game 12-2 and took home the victory in the second match 3-0.

Game Recap GM1:

Goldey-Beacom holds a three-run lead at the end of the fourth inning.

The Lightning struck first in this game when senior infielder Bryn Bohmann pushed home a run. She reached first base on a fielding error to give her team a 1-0 edge in the opening inning.

Lincoln would tie the game up at one in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single to center field.

Senior pitcher Wynter Radcliffe extended GBC’s advantage to 2-0 in the top of the third with an RBI single to left center.

Goldey-Beacom’s lead would balloon to 5-1 in the fourth inning, scoring three runs on five hits and one error.

Sophomore utility player Chaneyl Johnson started the scoring in the inning by pushing home a run when she reached first base off an error from the third baseman.

Two plays later, Sophomore Utility player McKenna Frank hit an RBI single to left field.

On the next play,  Senior Utility player Ariana Mirenda came up to the plate and slapped an RBI double to left field to extend the score to 5-1.

The Lions cut the lead to three (5-2) in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI groundout to third base.

The Lightning take home a 12-2 win!

Goldey bumped their edge back to four (6-2) when Chaneyl Johnson pushed home a run in the fifth with a Sac Fly.

Wynter Radcliffe would collect her third RBI of the game in the sixth when she smoked a two-run double to center field to give her team an 8-2 lead.

The Lightning would score four more runs in the seventh inning to seal a 12-2 victory over Lincoln. Freshman infielder Josalyn McMillan hit a two-run triple in the inning, and Bryn Bohmann hit an RBI triple to right field in the latter part of the seventh.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Morgan McLane earned the win by giving up six hits, two runs, two earned runs, three walks, and striking out four in five innings.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 3-0 win!

The Lightning struck first in this game when Bryn Bohmann pushed home a run in the first inning when she reached base on a fielding error, giving her team a 1-0 edge.

McKenna Frank would give GBC a 2-0 lead in the third inning when she scored on a passed ball.

Fast forward to the sixth inning, where the team took a 3-0 advantage when  Junior infielder Autumn Simpson hit an RBI double to left center.

Senior pitcher Caitlyn Burch earned the win by giving up two hits, one walk, and striking out five in seven innings.
