The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned a split versus the Jefferson University Rams on Sunday with a 9-8 win in the first game and a 5-0 loss in the second.

Goldey-Beacom leads by three runs at the end of the first inning.
Jefferson would take the lead first in this game with a Sac Fly and a base runner scoring on a throwing error by the catcher to take a 2-0 edge in the top of the first inning.
The Lightning answered back in the bottom of the inning by scoring five runs on three hits to grab a 5-2 advantage.
Senior infielder Jaden Dickerson started the scoring in the inning by slugging a three-run homer to right-center.
Five plays later, Senior outfielder Matt Benner smoked a two-run double to right center to give his team a 5-2 lead.
The Lightning leads by one at the end of the second inning.
In the top of the second inning, the Rams tied the game up at five with a three-run double to right center.
Goldey-Beacom regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Sophomore infielder Bobby Stewart scored on a wild pitch to give his team a 6-5 advantage.
GBC takes home an 8-7 win!
The Rams didn’t waste any time tying this game up at six, hitting an RBI double to left center in the top of the third inning.
One inning later, the Lightning took a 7-6 edge when Junior outfielder Anthony Charles scored on a wild pitch.
Jefferson took a two-run lead (8-7) in the top of the fifth with two Sac Bunts late in their half of the inning.
Fast forward to the eighth inning, when the Bolts tied the game at eight when senior infielder Braden Kolmansberger hit a leadoff, solo homer to left center.
Matt Benner would give Goldey a 9-8 edge in the inning when he slapped an RBI single through the right side.
Pitching Recap:
Goldey-Beacom used five pitchers in the game, including a freshman pitcher, Zach Davis, who pitched 2.2 innings, gave up one hit, two walks, struck out one, and earned the win.
Senior pitcher Ryan Pozo went 1.1 innings, one walk, one strikeout, and earned the save.
