Two-walk off wins give Goldey-Beacom a sweep over Felician

On Saturday, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team swept the Felician University Golden Falcons. The Lightning won the first game 7-6 and picked up another victory 8-7.

Game Recap GM1:

Goldey-Beacom leads by five runs at the end of the fourth inning.

The Lightning struck first in this game by scoring two runs on three hits to grab a 2-0 edge in the opening inning.

Freshman catcher Bri Cole pushed in the first run of the game when she reached base on a walk.

Senior infielder  Alex Lowry would push in the second run of the inning with an SAC Bunt.

Fast forward to the fourth inning, where GBC took a 5-0 lead when they scored three runs on four hits.

Senior pitcher Wynter Radcliffe started the scoring in the inning with a two-run double to right center.

Sophomore Utility player McKenna Frank would be up next and slapped an RBI double to left center to give her team a 5-0 advantage.

The Lightning takes home a 7-6 win!

Felician came roaring back in this game in the top of the fifth by scoring four runs on three hits to cut the deficit to 5-4.

Goldey-Beacom would get a run back in the bottom of the inning when Freshman infielder Josalyn McMillan pushed a runner home with a Sac Fly to take the score to 6-4.

Two innings later, the Golden Falcons tied the game at six with a two-run single up the middle of the field.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lightning would take home the win when Senior Utility player Ariana Mirenda smoked a two-out, walk-off RBI single up the middle to give her team a 7-6 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Morgan McLane went five innings, gave up seven hits, four runs, four earned runs, struck out two, and hit two batters.

Senior pitcher Caitlyn Burch went two innings, gave up two hits, two runs, two earned runs, two walks, struck out three, and earned the win.

The game started with Felician striking first in this matchup, scoring three runs on four hits to take a 3-0 edge in the top of the opening inning.

GBC tied the game at three in the bottom of the inning when Ariana Mirenda slugged a two-run inside-the-park homer to right center, and Josalyn McMillan pushed home a runner with a Sac Fly.

Alex Lowry gave the Lightning a 4-3 advantage in the bottom of the fourth when she slapped an RBI single up the middle.

Goldey-Beacom takes home an 8-7 win in extra innings!

Fast forward to the top of the seventh when the Golden Falcons tied the game at seven by scoring four runs on three hits. One of those hits was an inside-the-park, three-run homer to left field.

It would take nine innings for this game to get a winner, which Goldey-Beacom found a way to pull it out.

The inning started with senior outfielder Bri Snover on second, and she would move to third on a Sac Bunt.

Three plays later, McKenna Frank would end this game by pushing home Snover on a walk-off Sac Fly to seal an 8-7 victory.

Goldey-Beacom used three pitchers in the game, including Morgan McLane, who pitched two innings, struck out one, and earned the win.
