Our 2024-2025 season player review series continues with the Delaware State University women’s basketball team as the spotlight turns to sophomore point guard Kiarra Mcelrath.
Mcelrath led the team in scoring this season, with 13.8 points per game.
When the Hornets needed a bucket this season, Mcelrath was the first look for the team, recording double-digits in 21 games. She also netted three games where she scored over 20 points. The DSU sophomore also posted one 30-point game this year.
The Ohio native’s game-high in points this season came on January 4th versus Howard, where she scored 31 points. Mcelrath made 11 of her 23 shots, drained six of 12 attempts from the three-point line, and nailed three free throws.
In the last game of the season for the Hornets, the Delaware State point guard had another great shooting performance, where she posted 24 points versus Howard on March 12th. She made seven of her 18 shots, drained five of 19 tries from the three-point line, and nailed five of six free throws.
