Our 2024-2025 season player review series continues with the Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team as the spotlight turns to Sophomore guard Zakari McQueen.
McQueen led the team in scoring this season, with 14.9 points per game.
The Goldey-Beacom guard was the go-to guy when the team needed a bucket, recording double digits in 22 of his 29 games. He also netted seven games where he posted over 20 points. McQueen also had one game this year where he recorded 30 points.
That 30-point game came on January 25th in an 86-82 win over Bridgeport, where the Lightning sophomore made 11 of his 21 shots and drained six of his 14 tries from the three-point line. He knocked down both free throw shots (2-2).
One of his best shooting performances of the season came on February 8th in an 89-85 victory over Post, where he had 29 points. McQueen made eight of his 15 shots, nailed eight of his 15 attempts from the three-point line, and sunk all five free throws.
Opposing scorers did not like to see the GBC guard near the net, as he led the team in blocks per game with 0.8.
He was also fourth on the team in collecting rebounds, with three per game.
McQueen averaged 14.9 points per game, three rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 29 games.
