Our 2024-2025 season player review series starts with the Wilmington University men’s basketball team, who finished the season losing in the first round of the CACC tournament to Dominican (N.Y.).
The first Wildcat we are spotlighting is junior guard Justin Perez, who led the team in points per game with 13.
When the team needed a bucket this season, Perez was one of the main targets for WilmU, recording double-digits in 21 games. He also netted over 20 points in four games this year.
The junior guard’s game-high in points this season was 23, which he hit twice. Perez would hit the total first in a 92-71 victory over Georgian Court, where he made eight of his 11 shots and five of his seven free throws.
Fast-forward to March 4th, when the West Warwick, Rhode Island native scored 23 points in the first round of the CACC playoffs. He hit eight of his 13 shots and made all four of his shots from the free-throw line.
Another highlight game for Perez came on November 13th versus Shippensburg, where he had 21 points. The WilmU guard nailed eight of ten shots and drained five of six shots from the free throw line in that loss.
Perez averaged 13 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 29 games this season.
