The Wilmington University softball team earned a sweep on Friday as the team picked up wins versus the Saint Leo University Lions with a 3-1 victory and a 3- 2 triumph.
Let’s talk about the 3-1 victory first!

Wilmington University trails by one run after the end of the second inning.
Saint Leo would strike first in this game, as Alexis Barber would slap an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the second inning to give her team a 1-0 lead.
WilmU leads by two runs at the end of the third inning.
Wilmington would answer back in the top of the third inning when the team scored three runs on three hits and an error to give them a 3-1 lead.
After one batter reached on an error, and the next two would go out on a sac bunt in the inning, junior left fielder Tristyn Stewart would come up next for the Wildcats as she hit an RBI single up the middle to tie the game at one.
Four plays later, Graduate student infielder Sam Freeland would hit a two-out, two-run double to left field to give her team a 3-1 advantage.
Pitching Recap:
Junior starting pitcher Kylee Gunkel kept the Concord hitters quiet in this one, as she went seven innings and gave up three hits, one run, one earned run, five walks, and two strikeouts.
