Game Recap:
Blue Hens trail by one run at the end of the first inning.
The first run of this game would come in the bottom of the first inning, where Jacksonville’s Josh Steidl would hit a bunt RBI single to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Delaware takes home a 2-1 win!
Two innings later, UD’s hitters would wake up as they would score two runs on one hit to grab a 2-1 edge.
Junior outfielder Andrew Amato would start the inning off by earning a walk, and then three plays later, he would steal second base.
A walk and movement base from error would follow Amato’s action, as Sophomore infielder Aiden Stewart would then step up to the plate and slap a two-out, two RBI double to give the Hens a 2-1 advantage in the top of the fourth inning.
That would be all that the offense would produce for Delaware in this game, but it would be enough because their pitching staff dominated the Dolphins batters all day.
Pitching Recap:
Junior starting pitcher Doug Marose put on a commanding performance in the win, as he went 5.2 innings, gave up three hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, six strikeouts, and hit one batter.
Redshirt junior pitcher Eli Atiya and sophomore Anthony Gubitosi would come in as relief, as they combined to give up two walks and six strikeouts. Gubitosi would earn a save in the victory.
