The Wilmington University women’s basketball team earned their first win of the season on Saturday with a gutsy 66-54 victory over the Cheyney University Wolves.
Senior guard Trinity Brittingham led the team in scoring in the win with 16 points.
Two other Wilmington players who scored in double digits in the win were senior guard Amber Washington (14) and sophomore guard Cha’Nyah Dunston-Mason (14).
Junior guard/forward Daja Claiborne was locked on boards all afternoon, as she recorded 14 rebounds in the game.
WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included bench points (11-7), fast-break points (24-2), points in the paint (36-16), points off of turnovers (32-14), turnovers (22-33), assists (15-10), rebounds (51-48), and steals (18-14).
Wilmington was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 60.0%(9-15), and Cheyney shot 56.3% (9-16.
