The University of Delaware men’s soccer team earned the sixth win of the season on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over the George Washington University Colonials.
The standouts in the game for the Blue Hens were freshman defender T.J. Hastings, senior forward Justin Ruth, freshman midfielder Richard Monath, and Sophomore goalkeeper Caelin Campbell.
Hastings had one shot, one shot at the goal, scored one goal, and also had an assist in the win.
Ruth had one shot, one shot at the goal, and scored one goal in the game.
Monath had three shots, one shot at the goal, and one assist in the win.
Campbell allowed zero goals in 90 minutes and had zero saves in the game.

The scoreboard would stay silent for almost 20 minutes in this game until Delaware would end the scoreless streak at the 23-minute mark of the opening half.
UD’s goal came about when Justin Ruth headed the ball to T.J. Hastings in the middle, and then Hastings pulled off a bicycle kick to send the ball in the goal past George Washington’s goalkeeper to give his team a 1-0 lead.

Fast forward to the 72-minute mark in the second period, where Blue Hens Richard Monath took the free kick and crossed to the left side of the goal, and then seconds later, T.J. Hastings lit up the scoreboard when he hit a diving header to get the ball in the net to seal a 2-0 win over George Washington.
UD’s defense was stout all night, as they only allowed the Colonials to attempt five shots in the contest.
