Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about Wilmington’s women’s basketball team which will continue with sophomore forward Emily Ansah.

Ansah averaged 7.5 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game, and 0.8 blocks per game in 21.3 minutes per game in 27 games. The Wilmington forward led the team in blocks per game this season.

The Bear, Delaware native was among the best in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in rebounds per game, as Ansah placed in the top 15 ( ranked 14th) with 6.4. The Wilmington sophomore was also in the top 12 ( ranked 11th) in the conference in blocks per game with 0.8.

Wilmington Ends 11-Game Losing Streak To Capture First Win

WilmU would usher in the new year with their first win of the season by defeating Bloomfield 66-59.

Ansah had two points, one rebound, and one assist in the win.

Wildcats Snap Three-Game Losing Streak With Win Vs Felician

Wilmington would stop a three-game skid with an 89-59 home win over Felician on January 18th.

Ansah had one point, three rebounds, one assist, and one block in the game.

WilmU Defeats Nyack 85-76

After going 1-1 at home in the two previous games, the Wildcats picked up an 85-76 road win against Nyack.

Ansah would have two points, four rebounds, and three blocks in the game.

Wilmington Snaps Two-Game Losing Streak With Win Over Chestnut Hill

WilmU would hit a little road bump after the win over Nyack, as the team would lose their next two games. Wilmington would rebound though, as the team beat Chestnut Hill 77-67 on February 4th.

The Delaware native had 12 points, four rebounds, and one block in the win.

Wildcats’ Final Win Of The Season Comes Against Concordia (N.Y.)

Wilmington’s final win of the season would come at home, as the team defeated Concordia (N.Y.) 60-50 on February 15th. 

Ansah had 10 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in the final win.

Ansah Scores Season-High Of 20 Points In Loss To Georgian Court

In their last road game of the season, the Wildcats would fall 94-78 to Georgian Court.

Ansah scored a season-high 20 points in the loss.
