Brian Cameron Scores 31 In Wesley’s 94-68 Win Vs Eastern

The Wesley College Men’s basketball team rang in the new year with a dominating  94-68 road win over the Eastern University Eagles on Thursday.

Junior guard Brian Cameron led Wesley in scoring in the game with 31 points.

Senior guard Evan Anderson had a big night with 20 points in the win.

Another Wolverine who had nice night in the win was  junior forward Derick Charles who almost had a double double as he had 16 points and 9 rebounds.

One of Wesley’s biggest strengths in the win was their free throw shooting as the team had a 89.2% (33-37) shooting percentage at the foul line.

 

Wesley’s Offense Gets Hot Late & Pulls Away With Sizable Lead In 1st Half

Brian Cameron and Evan Anderson led the way for Wesley in the first half as Cameron had 16 points and Anderson had 11 points.

Wesley was the most consistent when they hit the foul line as they drowned 13 of their 15 shots (86.7%) there.

The game started with Eastern scoring six unanswered points but Wesley came back and had their own 6-0 run to tie the game at the 16:05 minute mark.

After this the two teams would trade buckets and the lead consistently until 9:45 minute mark where Wesley took control of the game.

Wolverines had a 6-0 run at 10:22 mark to give them a 26-22 lead which they never lost after this.  Senior guard Tyrone Craven came up big in this run for Wesley as he had four of the six points in the run.

Wesley would outscore the Eagles 22-13 the rest of the half to end with a 48-35 lead.

 

First Half Stats

Wesley shot 46.9% in the first half and Eastern shot 52.0%.

Wolverines shot 86.7% at the free throw line and the Eagles shot 77.8%.

Brian Cameron was the leading scorer for Wesley in the first half with 16 points.

Austin Duncan was the leading scorer for Eastern in the first half with nine points.

 

Wesley Capitalizes On Foul Shots To Put The Win Away 

Wesley was great at the free throw line in the first half and the team was even better in the second as they went 20-22 ( 90.91 %)  at the line. Wesley’s free throw shooting is a big reason why they won this game and in dominating fashion.

In the second half, Wesley went on a 15-7 run in the beginning of the half which increased their lead to 61-42 with 13:38 left in the game.

Wesley had another run where they outscored the Eagles 20-7 which had the lead at 89-55 with 5:11 left in the game. The run was led by Brian Cameron and Evan Anderson who had combined 14 points on the run.

The Eagles would outscore the Wolverines the rest of the way by 13-5 but it was too late for Eastern as Wesley would hold on to win 94-68.

Wesley looks to make it two in a row as they  travel to face Marywood on January 5th at 3:00pm ET.
